Banana Hill

Banana Hill is a music website, club, DJ duo and agency, set up as a blog in 2010 by Jack before he went to university. The name comes from a hill near his house in Manchester. Meeting Chris in his first week in Sheffield, the two started up a radio show, which formed into a clubnight a year later.
However, it would be a little while before they formed their current identity, fusing rhythms & sounds of Africa and Latin America with underground house, techno and disco sensibilities. The aim is to create a network of musical styles from around the world, spanning Afrobeat, Hip-hop, Jazz, Funk-Carioca, Kuduro, Afro House, Soul, Kwaito, House, Global Bass, Techno, Garage, Rare Groove, Calypso, Highlife and beyond.
The past year has seen them step up a level, gaining nods from The Guardian and booking acts such as Gilles Peterson, FunkinEven, Horse Meat Disco, Auntie Flo, LV & Joshua Idehen, Alexander Nut, Esa, The Busy Twist, Owiny Sigoma Band, Romare, Werkha, Afriquoi, fLako, Débruit, Shangaan Electro and many more, with upcoming Autumn parties with Cottam, Awanto 3, Andrés and Seven Davis Jr.

2014 has also seen them DJ around the UK and as far afield as Kampala, Uganda, as well as supporting acts such as Maurice Fulton, Greg Wilson, Ejeca, Bill Brewster, Optimo, Levon Vincent, Fatima Al Qadiri, DJ Rashad and more.
